First of all, sorry for so much time without posts. Thanks to everyone who has emailed me, you are all very kind.
This week a quite well known band: the Bardots.
They formed in the East Anglia area of England in 1989. Simon Dunford (guitar/vocals), Andy Murphy (guitar), Steve Cox (bass), and Neil Cox (drums) had begun playing together in university and in 1990 released their debut single, Sofaelaine, a flexi-disc release. After the flexi they released a split 12" with Shine! in the Wilde club records label from Norwich.
Then they made 2 or 3 more albums with a different sound, not vey interesting in my opinion (but with some great tunes).
But this song, "Sad Anne", is a gem, a wonderful piece of perfect pop, a song that touches you and remains in your memory forever.
Like many other bands from the era, their first song was the greatest. Enjoy this unforgettable song.

This week a song in my top ten of perfect-pop-songs, the absolutely stunning "Swimming in the heart of Jane" by the eighties band Treebound story.
This was the first band of one of my favorite artists nowadays: Richard Hawley.
The line up was: Paul Currie (vocals and guitars), Rob Gregory (drums), Richard Hawley (guitar) and Paul Infanti (bass).
They made four EPs between 1986-1990 and one song in a Native records compilation.
This song is from their third EP released in 1988 and the only thing I have to say is that I love it.
Hope you love it too.

This week a real treasure from the late 80's, the Uttoxetter band Yeah Jazz.
They released a couple of singles in different labels (see a discography in http://www.twee.net/bands/y/yeahjazz.html) and a wonderful LP, "six lane ends".
This song was only released in a compilation album called "Imminent 5" (a great album with 1000 violins, Enormous room, Great outdoors...) and has some of the best trumpets I've ever heard in a pop recording.
Enjoy it!

The Jeremiahs, a UK band that released a fantastic EP in 1988 in the Abstract label. It was called "Driving into the sun" (see the photo).
They also released 2 more songs in compilations, this song was included in "The final teaze" LP, a very poor compilation of indie bands from the era.
Only this fantastic song and the masterpiece from Nine steps to ugly (Eddie Lopez lives in Slough) are worth the ridiculous money paid for this record in e-bay.
Hope you like it, please download it here:

This week an extremely rare song from a 1985 compilation cassete called "Discreet campaigns".
These Decemberists are not the same nice band from the USA. I don't know who are them or where they come from, I only know this wonderful song that sounds a lot like The Smiths.
(An update here: a german pop fan, Olaf, has told me that The Decemberists later become the Hellfire Sermons, a great indie pop band. Thanks Olaf!)
You can see the complete tracklisting of the tape here: http://www.discogs.com/release/385745
And of course you can download it here:

Metro trinity, english band from the 80's. They released one 12" called "Die young" in 1987. More information about them here
This "Stupid friends" was released only in a split flexi with the Inspiral Carpets (Debris flexi number 6) and sounds a lot like the more poppy and wonderful songs by the Cure. I love this song, more than the ones in the 12"

The Love Buttons, an english band from the late 80's. Their only and fantastic EP was published by Ambition records in 1990.
They also had some songs in split flexis and cassette compilations, but their best are the 3 songs from the 12" without a doubt.
The members of the band were: Hugh Sunfish (guitar, voice), Pete (drums), Jo (guitar, voice) and Richard (bass).
This "Jon, you bastard" sounds a lot like "Dejame" a beautiful song by a spanish band called Los Secretos, but it's wonderful anyway.
You can download it from
