This week an extremely rare song from a 1985 compilation cassete called "Discreet campaigns".
These Decemberists are not the same nice band from the USA. I don't know who are them or where they come from, I only know this wonderful song that sounds a lot like The Smiths.
(An update here: a german pop fan, Olaf, has told me that The Decemberists later become the Hellfire Sermons, a great indie pop band. Thanks Olaf!)
You can see the complete tracklisting of the tape here: http://www.discogs.com/release/385745
And of course you can download it here:
Dear Javier.
This is a nice addition. Your weekly choice sounds bright, as if you were into a happy period or in love. Maybe you are, who knows. Anyway, I'd like to mention that this song has a nice guitar reef quite similar to one of The Field Mice, can't remember which song, so maybe there were some plagiarism among indie-pop bands these days.
Another lovely band,Finally heard them although quite a bit different when they become the Hellfire Sermons,This group is a bit jangly!cheers for the post mate:)
PS:How about some Fire Hydrant Men or The Ogdens tunes?
Been looking for the Discreet campaigns cassette for years now.
someone was selling a copy on ebay recently but I missed it.
The cassette was originally a giveaway on the front of some music mag. I played it while I was at college in 1986. over a number of months fell in love with almost every tracks.
Any chance of releasing any more?
Anyone who knows where I can get the 'Discreet Campaigns' album please email me:

Hi there, great to see this old song of ours available again to those in the know. I have gone back and listened to the old tapes and there are about 30 Decemberists songs recorded in a similar vein. There is one indie label that might be interested. We'll see!
Regards
Andy (ex-Decemberists of Liverpool), now Hellfire Sermons
